Bangladesh was also invited along with other neighboring countries to the event marking the 150th anniversary of India's Meteorological Department. But no one from Bangladesh, led by Muhammad Yunus, is coming to the event. According to a report by news agency PTI, an official from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said that no representative from their side is able to go to protect India's invitation. He commented that this foreign trip is "unnecessary".
A special symposium has been organized to mark the 150th anniversary of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). It has been named ‘Undivided India’. A Meteorological Department official said in this regard, “We want representatives from all the countries that were once part of undivided India to join the 150th anniversary celebrations.” Pakistan has already responded to India’s call. Islamabad has said that their representatives will be present at the symposium. However, Bangladesh has said that they will not be coming. This is considered significant in the light of recent developments and the bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh.
Pakistan has already accepted the invitation and agreed to join the talks. However, the Muhammad Yunus government of Bangladesh has not yet announced anything in this regard.
Despite the ups and downs of bilateral relations, India has invited all its neighbouring countries to a special symposium to mark the 150th anniversary of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). Pakistan and Bangladesh are also among the invitees. Pakistan has already accepted the invitation and agreed to attend the symposium. However, there has been no word from the
Muhammad Yunus government of Bangladesh on this matter so far.
According to official sources, a discussion on the theme of 'Undivided India' has been organized to mark the 150th anniversary of IMD. An official of the Meteorological Department said in this regard, "We want representatives of all the countries that were once part of undivided India to join the 150th anniversary celebrations."
It is initially known that New Delhi has sent invitations to Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka in addition to Pakistan and India. Separate invitations have also been extended to countries in West Asia, Central Asia and South-East Asia. The Finance Ministry is going to release a special commemorative coin to commemorate the 150th anniversary o
f IMD. And on Republic Day, there will be a special tableau on the main road in Delhi.
Incidentally, the IMD started its journey on January 15, 1875. However, much earlier, the British East India Company had opened weather observation stations in Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai. After a terrible storm in Kolkata in 1864 and droughts in 1866 and 1871, the British government decided to record and analyze detailed weather data. On that basis,
the IMD was created in 1875.

A young man is attacking a female colleague with a knife in the office premises. Even after witnessing this horrific scene, the witnesses remained silent. In this incident in Pune, this silence of the witnesses is more common than a brutal murder. As soon as this video of the murder went viral on social media, netizens asked, could the girl's life not have been saved if the killer had been caught earlier? On the other hand, the National Commission for Women has written a letter to the Director General of Maharashtra Police, raising questions about the safety of women at work in this incident. It has al
so demanded that the investigation be completed quickly and the accused be punished appropriately.
The murder took place on Tuesday. The accused young man and the young woman worked in a company in Pune. Suddenly, the accused pulled out a knife and started stabbing the young woman in the crowded office premises. The young woman, covered in blood, kept screaming and begging for her life. Multiple videos show that at least 20 people were present at the scene of the murder. But none of them were seen trying to stop the young man. After stabbing him several times with knives, some tried to take the young man away.
(Although Anandabazar Online has not verified the authenticity of these videos.)
It has been initially learned that the name of the deceased woman is Subhada Kodare. And the name of the accused in the murder is Krishna Satyanarayan Kanojia. In the initial investigation, the police found out that Krishna had lent some money to Subhada. A dispute started between the two over the repayment of that money. When Subhada was admitted to the hospital in a seriously injured condition, the doctors declared her dead. The accused youth was arrested on the same day.
The number of general employees in state-owned banks has decreased by 1.14 lakh, which is causing serious disruption in customer service.

Bank unions allege that since the Modi government came to power in 2014, the number of general employees in state-owned banks has decreased by 1.14 lakh. As a result, customer service is being seriously disrupted. On the other hand, bank employees and officers are facing additional pressure due to this. Many are even falling ill while handling the huge pressure of service. Therefore, the All India Bank Officers Confederation (AIBOC) has called for a two-day strike across the country on the 24th and 25th of next month, mainly demanding recruitment of employees and five-day work week.
Rajen Nagar, president of the general bank employees' organization AIBEA, Subhajyoti Chatterjee, state secretary of AIBC, and Sanjay Das, general secretary of All India Nationalized Bank Officers Federation, allege that the number of heads to work has decreased a lot compared to before. However, in the last few years, various new responsibilities have been imposed on the shoulders of the employees. In that list, there are various banking activities required by the general customers. Added to that are the huge activities of one government project after another.
Shubhajyoti said, "The interests of the common people are directly involved in the work of the bank. It requires efficiency. However, many posts of officers and employees are lying vacant. How can all the work be done efficiently? In addition, despite the unions' agreement with the Indian Banks Association (IBA), the bank authorities' organization, the five-day week is not being implemented. The IBA sent its recommendations to the central government for this a long time ago. But the center is not implementing it. Since these and other demands are not being met, we have decided to go on a two-day bank strike in February."
In the last 10 years, many employees have retired from banks. Many have also left their jobs. But recruitment has been limited, claims Rajen. "As a result, a net 1.14 lakh posts of general employees, who are not officers, are now lying vacant in the state-owned banking industry. The pressure on those who are working has increased several times. Customer service is being affected. Many people are misunderstand the bank employees. In many cases, some of their employees are being attacked for not getting proper service. This situation cannot continue. We have also decided to go on a movement demanding recruitment of employees, opposition to outsourcing, introduction of a five-day week, etc." He said that a meeting of the organization's officials will be held in Kolkata on January 15. The outline of the movement will be prepared there.
They are supporting the strike called by AIBC.
Sanjay laments, "Many employees are falling ill while dealing with the extra pressure. Especially in banking, since they have to meet targets. Many are breaking down mentally. This is not right. On top of that, there is no time to improve the skills of new employees. Which is very important. The bank employees' strike may cause some inconvenience to customers. But I hope the customers understand that protecting their interests is also one of the objectives of the strike."
